Top 6 AI marketing skills for people trying to sell something

By Quang Hieu ·

A Hacker News thread asked a blunt question: has anyone gotten AI agents to make money on their own? Another floated the idea of an AI agent that must make money to stay alive, and a third asked for the best AI tools to turn an idea into an MVP. The honest reading of those threads: nobody showed an agent that earns on autopilot. What people do get is help with the slow parts of selling: writing the page, getting found, setting a price, and following up.

So this list is not a promise of income. It is six free, open-source skills that do real marketing work when you give them real facts about your product. Each entry says what the skill does, who it is good for, and one honest catch from its own files. Results are not measured here; you still need a product people want.

New to skills? Start with how to install a skill.

1. Ad to landing page auditor

Ad to landing page auditor (MIT, by gooseworks-ai) reads your ad copy and the page it sends people to, then checks whether the promise in the ad carries through to the headline, body and call to action. It flags the gaps that make people click and then leave. It works with Google, Meta and LinkedIn ads.

Good for: anyone already paying for ads who sees clicks but few signups or sales.

Catch: it points at the mismatch; it does not run the ads or know your numbers. Bring your own ad copy and page, and judge the fixes against what your buyers actually say.

2. seo-geo

seo-geo (MIT, by AgriciDaniel) is about getting your content picked up by Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT web search and Perplexity, the field people call GEO. It checks AI crawler access, llms.txt, brand mentions, and how quotable each passage is.

Good for: anyone whose buyers now ask ChatGPT or Perplexity instead of searching Google.

Catch: the skill itself quotes Google saying that optimizing for AI search is still SEO. Treat it as good page hygiene, not a ranking switch.

3. Blog writer

Blog writer (MIT, by AgriciDaniel) writes a new article from scratch: it picks a template, puts the answer first, adds a short Key Takeaways box, sourced statistics, simple charts and an optional FAQ, with internal links to your other pages.

Good for: a small product site that needs a steady stream of useful posts so people can find it.

Catch: a draft with statistics is only as good as the sources behind them. Open every link and check every number before you publish, and add what only you know about your product.

4. pricing-strategy

pricing-strategy (MIT, by mohitagw15856) structures pricing decisions for SaaS and digital products: packaging, tiers, and free versus paid.

Good for: the moment you have to put a number on the page and keep putting it off.

Catch: it is a thinking framework. It has no market price data, so bring your own competitor prices and customer conversations.

5. Shopify low inventory restock

Shopify low inventory restock (MIT, by 40RTY-ai) queries every tracked product variant in your Shopify admin that is below a stock level you set, and exports a restock list grouped by vendor.

Good for: people who already sell physical products and lose sales when a best seller quietly runs out.

Catch: it needs access to your Shopify admin API, so give it the narrowest permissions you can. It makes a list; ordering from vendors is still your call.

6. Voice preserving rewriter

Voice preserving rewriter (MIT, by conorbronsdon) cleans AI-sounding phrases out of text while keeping the writer's voice, facts, intent and structure. It is part of a small set that can also detect and score those patterns.

Good for: founders who draft sales pages or emails with AI and want them to read like a person wrote them.

Catch: it changes how text sounds, not whether it is true. A cleaner sentence can still carry a claim you cannot back up.

Where to start

If you have nothing yet, the order that makes sense is: pricing-strategy to decide what you sell and for how much, the blog writer for pages people can find, and the voice preserving rewriter on anything a buyer will read. Add seo-geo once you have pages worth citing, the ad to landing page auditor once you pay for traffic, and the Shopify restock list only if you sell stock.

None of these skills will make money for you while you sleep, and no one in those threads showed one that does. What they remove is the blank page. The selling, the talking to customers and the judgement on what is true stay with you.
