Which AI prompts actually help at work?
Lots of posts promise prompts that make you look smarter at work. Which kinds of prompts are genuinely useful in an office job, and which are just clever-sounding?
The useful ones turn a recurring task into a template: summarise this thread with decisions and owners, rewrite this email for a busy reader, list the risks in this plan. You use them weekly, so small gains add up.
The clever-sounding ones tell the model to 'act as a world-class expert' and stop there. A role helps a little; the input you give and the format you ask for help a lot more.
A good work prompt has three parts: what the input is, what you want back (format and length), and what to leave out. Save the ones that work and reuse them instead of rewriting each time.
For analysis work, ask the model to show what it assumed. That is where most wrong answers hide.
